My name’s Ian. I’m an experienced web designer and I run the show here at EggCup Web Design. I own the company, build the websites, sweep the floors, and make the tea. I’m a one-man band.
But I don’t do it all by myself, I work hard to forge strong connections with other talented creatives who I know I can rely upon to pitch in where necessary.
As a freelancer I can keep day-to-day costs (teabag consumption) low, but yell for all hands on deck when I need the extra horsepower.
I always love calling on my superhero buddies to help out. Depending on what you need, I’ve got strong connections with graphic designers, copywriters, marketers and photographers.
I also work closely with other talented web designers in Norwich, so I can offer the capacity for bigger projects too.
I’ll base our project around you so you don’t pay for what you don’t want but you’ll always get the expertise you need to get the job done.
The egg in the EggCup
I’ve been designing and developing websites commercially for years, but I haven’t been in the industry so long as to become jaded.
I’ve earned my stripes working on a wide variety of sites — from niche interest blogs, to larger commercial properties running on WordPress, right the way up to custom-built websites that I’ve helped to carve out a comfortable position for at the top of Google.
I might be a freelancer, but I’m no bedroom coder. I have a first-class Honours Degree in Business Computing so I know how computers and businesses go together.
Having said that, I still believe people are the most important ingredient in building a successful website. This is why I spend so much time reading about web usability and accessibility, and have even done my own web accessibility research.
I was born in Norfolk, and I’ve lived in Norwich for the past 10 years. I love it here and I believe in supporting other local businesses, which is why my company is a member of Buy Local Norfolk.
I’m no bad egg
My business is my bread and butter*, and it means the world to me, so I know how important your company is to you too. I also know how disappointing it is when you pay for something that doesn’t turn out to be what you expected.
I don’t diddle people out of money, because then I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. And I’m too old to go without sleep these days.
Don’t be shy, say hello!
Do I sound like the kind of person you’d like to work with? Get in touch, and let’s talk things over. If you’re based in Norwich or Norfolk too, all the better — I’d love to meet with you face-to-face over a cuppa.
